I am finally back after few weeks without any activity on the blog nor on Instagram. Christmas and New Year celebrations were quite busy for me. First, I went to the mountain side with my family for Christmas and then I went to Germany to my BF’s family. Actually, I wasn’t that busy but I just didn’t take the time to take pictures, I rather enjoyed the company of my loved ones 🙂
By the way, happy new year and best wishes guys!
I guess that you may have eaten a LOT during the holiday season. Let’s be honest Christmas diners equals to eight meals, which I am not complaining about because I love such diners. On top of that, as I was at the mountain side with my family, we tried most of the local food, we went to different Christmas markets and so on, you know how it is. As a conclusion, after this week, I was full and felt like 12 weeks pregnant. Plus,, directly after that I went to my family in law. And what tastes better than home made food cooked with love? You know the response: nothing. So once again I ate a lot for a week. When I was back in France, I said to myself “my belly will finally rest”. And nooo, it was the epiphany cake time. My belly was about to explode, literally. There are usually different signs that show I NEED a detox diet: my belly is always full, I lack appetite and I have belly aches. I already felt this way when I was back from Portugal, where I ate so much, and this was when I did my first detox diet.
I won’t find a definition from Google and cite it here. According to me, a detox diet is for your stomach to rest. It is about eating very little for a short amount time in order to have a flat belly again and feel hungry again instead of losing weight. Nonetheless, when I talk about eating very few I don’t mean eating an apple a day, of course not. During the detox diet we eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But the goal is to avoid nasty fat and sugar and to favor fruit and vegetables. I thus prepared a tasty 4-day detox diet.
My morning routine always includes lemon water even when I am not on a detox diet. It is like the all time home remedy to be full of energy. To do so I boil a cup of water and I press half a lemon in it. I also add some ginger sometimes. And very important, I drink it on an empty stomach.
Chia puddings are so yummmm. I love them and they are so easy to prepare. You need:
You just need to mix the yogurt with the chia seeds and let it rest for at least 20 minutes. After that you can add any topping you want on top of the preparation.
Four days is short, and we don’t want to spend the whole time in the kitchen. As a conclusion, I chose two different kinds of salads for the whole diet.
Nb: the quantities are for one salad only, so you have to double them for the whole diet.
Start with grating the carrot and the apple. Wash and peel the mushrooms. Place the salad on the plate, then add the grated carrot and apple. Now put the mushrooms and dress the salad. I just put a small amount of olive oil plus salt and pepper. The last step is adding the flaked almonds.
I LOVE fresh fennel, I prefer when it is fresh rather than cooked. It is delicious and reminds of licorice. To prepare this salad you need:
Start with cutting the fennel in very thin slices and crumble the chicken. Then, peel the pomegranate. Now put the rocket in the plate and add the fennel and the chicken. Dress the salad like above and finish with adding the pomegranate seeds.
As for the salads, I planned two different recipes of soup for four days. By the way, my precious device is the Moulinex Blender Soup Maker, it life changing. You save so much time with it. You just need to peel and cut the vegetables and put them in the blender, you wait a bit and the soup is ready!! Much easier than peeling, cutting the vegetables, cooking them and finally mixing the soup.
Nb: the quantities are for about 2 bowls of soup each, so the quantities are for the whole detox diet.
This one is THE detox soup. First of all it is green (lol) and it is super light. I tried this recipe the first time I did my detox diet. That’s the perfect soup before going to bed. The ingredients are:
The first step is to peel and cut the vegetables and the garlic. Then, cook all the vegetables in a big pan with a bit of oil for 5 minutes. After that, add the water and let it cook it for 20 minutes with a lid. To finish add the spices: cumin, salt, pepper and the parsley and mix the soup.
This soup was totally new for me and it is so delicious. To make it you need:
The first step is to peel and cut the beetroots. And watch out because beetroots are so dangerous for your clothes. I feel like a mum saying this but it true, you’ll be really mad if beetroots stain your clothes. Now peel and cut the potato and the onion. Don’t forget to grate the ginger. Put everything in a pan and add some water. Let everything stew for an hour. Now add the spices before mixing the soup. Small tip for the red soup: eat it tepid and not warm, it will taste better 😉
That’s it, the four-day detox diet is ready: four breakfasts, four lunches and four dinners. And now I hear you saying “what about snacks??” FRUITS! As soon as feel hungry between two meals, I eat fruit. It is now persimmons season, they are sooo tasty, I love them, two of them and you’ll be satisfied!
I cheated, I cheated several times on my detox diet. Shame on me! That to be said, I should just tell why it didn’t work well at some points and how to avoid doing so. I began my detox diet when I was at my parent’s place, while they didn’t do the diet. Of course, when at the table people are eating tasty home cooked food and you have your soup, it may be a bit hard to resist. So the first tip is: surround yourself with the ”right” people while on a detox diet. I cheated another time when I left my parent’s place for Paris. It might sound stupid to you, but you should be on the diet when you are in a “stable” situation. I am sure that changing your environment and your habits is disturbing. Nevertheless, when I talk about cheating, I am not talking about a Golden menu at McDonald’s, but rather of a bit of cheese with bread or eating a big mixed salad at a restaurant (with much more fat than the home made one). At the end, it wasn’t a big deal because it was still healthy food not like candies or fried stuff. I also think it is better to cheat a bit with still healthy food (like cheese, bread) rather than starving yourselfand being grumpy and eat a Big Mac or full Milka chocolate bar afterwards. I’m sure you know what I mean 🙂
I hope my recipes will inspire you and let me know if you try them 🙂
